Konkretus awarded with Red Dot Product Design Prize.
“It all starts with a material, and we transform it with design to create unexpected pieces.”
Konkretus, a manufacturer of home and urban concrete furniture located in Medellín (Colombia), announced last week that it was named the winner of the 2022 Red Dot product design award. This nomination highlights the talent behind the organization and the firm belief they have in design as a cultural shaper. “We celebrate each step, and above all, we dream big.” said Luis Ignacio Franco, one of the co-founders behind this brand. “Winning the Red Dot results from our passion and hard work. This prize is a beautiful recognition of our talent and Latin roots. We are convinced that design can change the way people see and live the world.”
The award allows fellow Colombian brands to express their culture, traditions, and lifestyle through sophisticated products.
“We are very proud to start paving the road for Latin design as a worldwide referent. The purpose behind our Tropicalsoph (Tropical Sophisticated) design philosophy was to put tropical aesthetics on the map, not just for us but for other industries out there who base their value on design,” said Felipe Eusse, head designer. “The Lotus sink that was awarded ensembles in form and function our lands’ greatest treasures.”
The Red Dot Design Award is a German international design prize that has been granted in the categories of product design, brands and communication design, and design concept since 1955. Winning products are presented in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany.
This is the first nomination and international product design award for Konkretus. “We have been in the business of design and architecture for the last decade, attending both home and urban markets. Receiving this award is a great privilege and commits us to continue creating and marketing products with a great design that positively impacts and improves people’s lives.” Said Daniel Mesa, co-founder of the company.
